Detente With Iran

Recently by Michael S. Rozeff: Wrong Ideas Are Sinking America

George Bush’s Iran policy was one blunder after another, beginning with placing Iran on an "axis of evil" list. His policy set out not to resolve the conflict between the U.S. and Iran. He followed through by spurning the opportunity for a settlement in 2003.
Bush’s policy was to fight the "evil", which meant getting rid of that "evil". That meant either making Iran do what the U.S. wanted or changing the regime in Iran. The methods were to confront Iran, isolate it, stop it from becoming a regional power, get it to back down, weaken it, get it to abandon any and all its nuclear ambitions, sanction it, and support dissidents inside Iran. Iran would not only be contained, it would be reduced.
Bush’s policy was anti-detente. It was neoconservative policy, that is, arrogant, self-righteous,

The Problem With Iran Not Getting a Nuclear Bomb

The Lord High Almighty Pooh-Bah of threats. The Grand Ayatollah of nuclear menace.
by William Blum

As we all know only too well, the United States and Israel would hate to see Iran possessing nuclear weapons. Being “the only nuclear power in the Middle East” is a great card for Israel to have in its hand. But — in the real, non-propaganda world — is USrael actually fearful of an attack from a nuclear-armed Iran? In case you’ve forgotten …
In 2007, in a closed discussion, Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said that in her opinion “Iranian nuclear weapons do not pose an existential threat to Israel.” She “also criticized the exaggerated use that [Israeli] Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is making of the issue of the Iranian bomb, claiming that he is attempting to rally the public around him by playing on its most basic fears.”[1]
2009: “A senior Israeli official in Washington” asserted that “Iran would be unlikely to use its missiles in an attack [against Israel] because of the certainty of retaliation.”[2]
In 2010 the Sunday Times of London (January 10) reported that Brigadier-General Uzi Eilam, war hero, pillar of the Israeli defense establishment, and former director-general of Israel’s Atomic Energy Commission, “believes it will probably take Iran seven years to make nuclear weapons.”
Early last month, US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta told a television audience: “Are they [Iran] trying to develop a nuclear weapon? No, but we know that they’re trying to develop a nuclear capability.”[3]

Iran, Gold and Oil - The Next Banksters War

“I was personally present when the deputy economics minister of Iran was talking to a foreign society in Berlin”
“And the gentleman said very openly to the shocked audience ‘OK.
You don’t want to buy our goods. Well, the Chinese do.”

Iran, Gold and Oil - The Next Banksters War

Remember the real reason why Moammar Gadhafi is dead. He dared to propose and started creating an alternative currency to the world reserve U.S. Dollar. The lesson learned in Libya is now ready for teaching in Iran. Forget all the noise about going nuclear, the true message is that the banksters rule and nation states serve their ultimate masters. The hype and disinformation that surrounds the push for war is best understood by examining the viewpoint of Iranian MP Kazem Jalali. The Tehran Times quotes him in saying,

How to prevent war with Iran

The pace of events in the confrontation between Iran, Israel, and the United States has accelerated rapidly in the last few months. The mysterious destruction of an Iranian missile facility in November was followed by a new wave of US-organized sanctionsagainst Iran's central bank. In early January, Iran threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz and offered a belligerent "recommendation" that a US aircraft carrier avoid returning there. A week later, the assassination of an official from the Natanz enrichment plant triggered Iranian calls for revenge against Israel and the United States. (The United States has categorically denied any involvement.) A war appears likely before the end of 2012 -- in some sense, it may already be underway. Nevertheless, disaster might still be averted.

Fact-checking ceasefire breaches: Killing Palestinians doesn't count to US media

By Alison Weir
Poynter.orgCounterPunch, January 29, 2009
On January 27, 2009 media headlines trumpeted that Palestinians had broken the latest cease-fire: a bomb had killed one Israeli soldier and injured two or three.
Virtually every media outlet reported this action as a major breach in the ceasefire that had begun on January 18th: Associated Press, CNN, Fox News, CBS, the New York Times, The Washington Post, the LA Times, the McClatchy Newspapers, etc, all pinned the resumption of violence on Palestinians.
There's just one problem. Israeli forces had already violated the ceasefire at least seven times:

Israeli Agents, Phony Credentials, Terrorist Recruiters?

Council on Foreign Relations

Council on Foreign Relations Busts Israel for False Flag Terror

by  Gordon Duff,  Senior Editor

When Mark Perry, writing for the CFR, considered the most conservative and certainly the largest American think tank accused Israel of using CIA credentials for recruiting terrorists, particularly against Iran, I nearly fell of my chair.
I had known about this all along.  The operations, based in Balochistan, were done by the Mossad with support from Britain’s MI 6 and operational support supplied by Blackwater.
The project head at Blackwater is a friend who was not briefed that he was supporting an illegal terrorist organization.
I love to pick on Blackwater but best stick to the truth.
The attacks, supporting a separatist movement, meaning one operating not just against Iran but our ally Pakistan…are terrorism. Jeff Gates and I met with the defacto president of the separatist republic last year.  He had been shot 3 times and was bleeding on the couch.

Iran vs Israel: What The Media Wants You To Forget

The corporate media have been given their orders to throw the focus back on to Iran.

Here is a recap of what they are trying to make you forget.
5. Iran allows IAEA inspections of all its facilities.

Alan Hart: When is a Terrorist Not a Terrorist?

Behind Every Terrorist, the Mossad

War with Iran or not?

By Alan Hart

The longer and complete form of the first question in the headline is – When is a terrorist not a terrorist in the eyes of the Obama administration (not to mention all of its predecessors) and the governments of the Western world?
Answer: When he or she is an Israeli Mossad agent or asset.
In the case of the assassination of Iranian scientists, the Mossad’s assets are almost certainly members of the Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO) also known as The Peoples’ Mujahedin of Iran, which is committed to overthrowing the regime of the ruling mullahs. Many of its activists are based in Iraqi Kurdistan where Mossad has a substantial presence. It does the training there, selects the targets in Iran and provides the bombs and other weapons, and MKO members do the actual killing.
It’s reasonable to presume that Mossad is more comfortable operating out of Iraqi Kurdistan with Iranian MKO assets than it was when its own agents were posing as CIA officers to recruit members of Jundallah, a Pakistan-based Sunni extremist organization, to carry out assassinations and attacks on installations and facilities in Iran.

Iran target of 'false flag' strategy?

By James Fetzer and Joshua Blakeney
The ship with an orange hue is the USS Vincennes afloat in Puget Sound. It will reportedly be used in a "False Flag" attack against Iran.
Several warnings of an imminent “false flag” attack by the Israeli-influenced US on one of its own warships, which will be attributed to Iran, have been reported by several reliable sources.

In recent years “false-flag” terrorism has been utilized multiple times by US and Israeli political actors to provide pretexts for otherwise unjustifiable, anti-Islamic military excursions. The plan is to justify an all-out assault on Iran based upon a new fabricated “Pearl Harbor”.

Racist Israeli Supreme Court Decisions

By Stephen Lendman
January 14, 2012
Two recent Israeli High Court rulings follow a disturbing trend. On January 11, divided justices ruled 6 – 5 for Israel’s Citizenship and Entry into Israel Law.
It denies citizenship rights to Palestinians with Israeli spouses. Enacted in 2003 as temporary legislation, it was extended twice after its initial expiration date.
The law empowers the interior minister to grant citizenship only if affected Palestinians identify strongly and cooperate with Israel. They must also contribute to national security. As a result, few qualify.
In addition, it limits potential eligibility to Palestinian husbands 36 or older and Palestinian wives at least 26.
A Qara village attorney called the decision a “declaration of war on Israeli Arabs.” A mixed couple said the decision “will lead to the expulsion of thousands of families from the country.”
